Flood watchers take in the rising waters. Sand-bag anyone?
The trip to China this last month was unlike any other. Bryce Hepworth, company founder and the supervisor of manufacturing, arrived shortly after the 7.8 quake impacted the city of Sanshui, China and it’s surrounding areas.
Days after his own arrival came some afterthoughts from mother nature. Floods hit the city and rains douched the town for several endless days.
“The water was to my nutsack deep.” says Hepworth. “Power, electricity, and transportation were all knocked out by the water. I was stuck in my 7th floor apartment with some candles and good people watching?” Below are a few pictures snapped during the flooding.

When disaster strikes and holds you hostage… hula hoop. This is one of Bryce’s neighbors in Southern China. This city is home to more than 10 million people.

Things are just getting started. Note the pool table in the middle of the street.
Bryce made it back to the states safe and dry. More pictures of the places he skated in China to come.

(read following post with a re-occurring “GONG ” sound in the background)

Dbot 5 travels to China regularly to oversee manufacturing and take in some awesome Asian skateboarding. This far-away ancient place is second home to the company’s founder, Bryce Hepworth. However, with the recent shakes, this last trip to the populated country was anything but sweet.
Normally Bryce prefers his board to camera; so it’s great to finally have some local snapshots.

City lights of Hong Kong.
First stop on this long trip, Hong Kong. The visit here is vital before crossing the border into China; visa renewal, banking, and one last feel for the western civilization we’re all used to. Previously I accompanied Bryce on one of the trips, I’ve seen he truly has friends in all places. We walk into random Hong Kong accommodations and glasses and head nods are throw in our direction. (Think character Jack Sparrow… Pirates of the Caribbean… He walks into random bars.. on different islands and everyone knows him.) We really are a world away and the smiles of strangers feel like home to me too.

More neon lights from the City of Skyscrapers, Hong Kong.

Stay tuned for more Dbot 5 Dynasty.

Music adds motivation and freshness to your life and your riding. Summer’s here! It’s time for some new playlists. Thanks to technology (and iTunes) we have the ability to create our own soundtracks for everyday life. Good old technology has also made the noise we like… easier to hear. Did I mention the new LOUD speakers are in?
However, If you don’t want to share your Celine Dion with the rest of the lake… check out the latest sweets from SkullCandy.

or get wet and take along your very own underwater dj (h2o-proof mp3 players) Free Style Audio has some pretty crazy stuff. How ever you play it, let the music take you higher.
